So Elsa cape update:

Pic 1: Yesterday’s progress. Not much got done yesterday but that was about 3 hours of work and I was still getting used to putting the rhinestones on.

Pics 2 and 3: Today’s progress. Most of the large pieces of the left side are outlined. After each of the large parts are outlined I’ll move onto the snowflakes and then move onto the right side. After I do the same thing on the right side I’ll be able to take the pattern away and will in the outlines

This is probably somewhere around 2500 rhinestones so far

Knit Happens, Sew What? turned 2 today!
Hard to believe that I’ve had this blog for 2 years now. I mean just last year I think I was lucky enough to have maybe 100 followers and now I’m almost up to 300.
Its also wonderful to think of how my craft has grown in a year and I can’t wait to see what the next year will bring.

Back to School?

So I’m considering going back to college for a 2nd degree. This time in Technical Production specializing in costume design. I loved my education at Daemen and am glad that I got a well rounded degree in Business Administration specializing Sport Management and minoring in Writing, but I just don’t feel like its completely me.

I love sewing and working on costumes. I love seeing characters and thinking, “I want to bring them to life in the real world”. I love learning new techniques and researching, looking through pages of tutorials, video tutorials, and more.

I love cosplaying and just thinking about getting a degree in costume design is giving me butterflies, like the ones you get when you see that person who always makes you smile.

I’m not sure when yet, but I’ll be making an appointment with a local school that offers the degree to discuss my options. I probably wouldn’t even start at the school this fall. Maybe next fall, but I have a feeling that this will be in my future.

I would love your guys’ impute as you have seen my many cosplays from the beginning.

And thus the first details were sewn onto the lieutenants hats and the Kimball hat. Tomorrow I’ll be attempting to paint on the color details. Have to say that I’m very pleased with these so far! May be my favorite halo hat so far

So I’ve decided to work on a Part 2 of my previous “Gift to the Roosterteeth Staff”. Surprise, surprise. It involves MORE Halo hats! Part 2 goes as:

  • Miles will get a Felix hat
  • Gavin will get a Private Jones hat
  • Michael will get a Chain Guy hat (from Season 10 I believe)
  • Lindsay will get a…

So I’m adding Bitters to the list for Brandon and Jensen for Barb

So I’m finally getting around to finishing the Elsa bodice. The first picture is of all the materials I will be using for the bodice aside from the copious amounts (and colors) of paint that I have waiting. The next for pictures are tests of techniques on the old bodice that did not fit me correctly despite numerous alterations. The first of the tests was just glitter scrapbook paper, the second test was shimmer sheets, the third test both and the final test was lines of very fine glitter. Let me know what you guys think. I’m thinking mostly shimmer sheets with some glitter paper and then lines of the extra fine glitter through out the bodice.

Finished the new bodice for the Elsa costume the other day and it fits way better then the last one did, especially in the boobs area. Although I’m so flat chested that I did have to buy those fake boobs that feel like raw chicken. Working on a couple of techniques to get the look that I want.

So I’m so tired right now that I just left a pot of water on the stove to boil and thought to myself, “I’ll just go play on the computer while this loads”

Because water boiling (waiting to put in the macaroni for mac and cheese) is loading now
